During the summer attend a Friday night slide show at The Maine Photographic Workshops.
The Maine Media Workshop also offers several events that are open to the community. Just a stones throw from the Schooner Timberwind dock is Union Hall in the heart of Rockport village. This summer there will be 4 gallery showings. Remembering Karen Van Allsburg will run from June 8th to July 1st; Maine Media College: Master of Fine Arts – June 8th to July 1st; The Next Step: John Paul Caponigro and Alumni – July 6th – 29th; and Celebrating India – August 3rd – 28th.
There are several presentations, lectures and events also going on at the college. The two that we are most looking forward to are an even planned to go along with a major show at the Portland Museum of Art that highlights Joyce Tenneson’s photographs and the connection between Ms. Tenneson and Julia Margaret Cameron, a wonderful portraitist. Details of this event have not been announced yet but we are keeping our eyes open.
The other is a book signing and slide show with photographer Patrisha McLean who’s recent book Maine Street: Faces and Stories from a Small Town, a book about life in Camden, Maine.
