We wanted to thank you all for the phone calls and emails asking how we were doing after the storm. Hurricane Kyle turned out to be a dud for us- actually it was more of a rainy day then a storm of any kind. Early Sunday afternoon the storm turned east and away from our sailing grounds and was downgraded from a hurricane. To prepare and be sure both windjammers took precautions to make sure the vessels and her passengers were safe and sound to ride out the storm.
The Timberwind who was out on a 3 day weekend trip came in Saturday night to ride out the storm. Sunday morning Captain Jon and crew moved the J&E Riggin from her regular dock to Journey’s End marina and docked next to the Victory Chimes and behind the Coast Guard cutters. Boarding Sunday night was a little soggy but with freshly brewed Riggin coffee and chocolate ginger cookies everything was just as it should be. We were even lucky enough to see spots of sun trying desperately to break through the clouds. The long standing adage of "If you don’t like the weather in Maine, just wait a minute", has never rung so true.
We love knowing that you are concerned and we love being able to tell you all is well here in Maine on Penobscot Bay.
Annie
Enjoying the fall weather!
